I’M A EUROPE’S BEST YOUNG WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER AWARD’S FINALIST 😭😭😭

Oof, this might be TMI but here goes:

In 2025, I burned out. Picking up my camera made my stomach sink and receiving inquiries made me sob. I told my partner Nuno I was going to do 2026 but no more. No more weddings and no more photography.

We invested all of our savings into moving out of our home in Lisbon to find a quieter life, and when it got really hard, Nuno was the one who pressed the button and said “you have to” and spent my last (can’t stress enough how literally) 10€ for the fees to register for this award.

I wanted to quit more times than I can count.

But not on wedding days.

Every single one of my couples can attest the silly smile I have on my face on wedding day. I feel calm and confident and whole. I hug my couples, I cry with my grooms, laugh with my brides and I’m lucky enough to have made friends out of a couple of them.

I’m better now. And I’m not quitting. I’m actually just getting started.

I’m incredibly grateful for the girl that kept picking up a camera when called “cringe” and weird. And shot auto because ISO and aperture sounded too much like math class. For the girl that quit her job without savings or a net to fall onto, just a blinding certain that things would somehow work out for me.
I’m very proud of myself today.

Being a photographer focused on raw emotion and unposed moments, I felt, for the longest time, a little ashamed for vibing so much with the fashion and aesthetics of a wedding. The last couple months I discovered you can do both. None of these photos were posed or even prompted! And still, they feel so me and creative and artsy!

I’m learning to fight the urge to do what I feel like I’m supposed to and do what I know me and my clients will love.

I also love Hailey and Rinne and miss them dearly.

Ps: I heard a couple days ago that being invited to a lesbian wedding and simply saying that you’re going to a wedding, is the same as being invited to the Met Gala and saying you’re going to a party lol

Someone asked this, earlier this year at @wayupnorth in Berlin and it stayed with me. I can’t remember the first time I saw a bride, but I try to make sure that I capture the moment for the little girls that attend your wedding.

Para quem não sabe, a Joana é minha prima. Poder celebrar o seu casamento, de câmara na mão, tão perto dela, (até no altar lol) era algo que nunca sequer sonhara.
